The Wheel of Fortune.
It turns, ignoring time and place. Mona Vale is the Grande Dame of Christchurch and she has seen many times the Wheel of Fortune turn. With the earthquakes five years ago, Mona Vale went from a vibrant and loved place in a few minutes to a vacant space for 5 years. But yesterday was the beginning of a new era, where the Wheel had turned again. The Ward Family invited to a small celebration of the reopening of Mona Vale Homestead and Pantry and I felt as probably all the other guests quite honored to get a sneak peak of the beauty and grace of this lady. She has come back, and everyone involved in bringing her back – has succeeded. She looks beautiful, inviting, ready for new adventures and new stories.
Come with me to meet this beautiful and graceful lady in the heart of Christchurch who reminds me of my very own grandmother Irene: a matriarch, indestructible, open-hearted, warm, welcoming and wise.
Thank you so much for inviting me to witness a new chapter of this graceful lady Mona Vale.
Those pastries! Honestly… divine.
