Because when we sit and do nothing, it is like the waves caused by the stirring in a pond stop, and the answers become clear, written at the bottom in the sand.
We tend to want to do something. Anything. But to sit in stillness. Because stillness can be scary. Stillness can be intimidating. With its own sounds.
There is never “nothing”.
There is all that is in this moment. Available.
If you are brave enough to sit with it.
I have been there many times in my life. I have been sitting beside springs in the middle of forests to just listen. First to the water, then to myself and the answers.
And then to really feel. With all its consequences.
I have taken people into the forests too, to those places to be so engulfed in the calm environment that they became a part of it. Nature doing its thing. People call it healing. I do not know. I think it is more just being and listening.
I do not need a spring in the forest anymore to help me to do nothing. I can do it anywhere. It is second nature as the answers are always there. Around me, in me, above me, below me. They are there. The question is always – will I be brave enough to listen to them. Will we make time? For ourselves. Like the core of ourselves. The essence. The soul. The heart’s voice.
If my life would be a ship, a vessel, I have taken a massive turn in the last 6 months. A good chunk of my old life is gone. Skins shed. Doors closed.
Empty spaces left, right and centre. That is pretty intimidating. And, thank you nature, also exciting.
So, it is not really nothing when we stop and do nothing.
It is recharging. Shedding. Closing chapters. Listening. Being.
Nature never really stops. If we do not grow visibly on the “outside”, we grow on the inside, the roots. The invisible part that collects the nutrients and energy and sends it up to the branches, leaves and fruits.
Never ever underestimate doing nothing.
You will come out recharged. Empowered. With clarity.
It is a pendulum. Life always is. If you have a high, you will have a low, if you have growth on the outside you then will have growth on the inside. You can try to postpone it but life will force you, literally force you to give yourself time to experience both. Action. Inaction.
Because we are simply like everything else – nature in its truest form.
Enjoy. xx
Hi, I am Steph.
I follow my curiosity wherever it leads me and use nature to explain us human beings a bit.
Say hello, if you want to hear more about life wanderings through forests and the wisdom snippets I find on the walks or if you want to come with me on my forests walks and experience it yourself.
Sometimes there is no action required.
It is just to sit. And do absolutely nothing.
Which is never “nothing”.
Because when we sit and do nothing, it is like the waves caused by the stirring in a pond stop, and the answers become clear, written at the bottom in the sand.
